HomeAt 2.30pm today we posted an update that fixes some of the reported bugs related to the last update.
Here is a summary of new features and bug fixes.
New Security Settings
You can now control who can view your Feed on your profile.
Option A: Allow Everyone to view my wall/feed. <--- this is the default option
Option B: Allow only my friends to view my wall/feed. <---- greater privacy
Birthday Setting
A. Show my birthday with year
B. Show my birthday without year (<--- best option for those that want to get birthday wishes but do not want to reveal their age)
C. Don't show my birthday at all
New Blocking and Reporting controls
You can now block/report profiles that are marked as private.
Improved Search and Friend Browsing
The improved Search now remembers your search settings and last search page. You can now click on a search result, look at a profile and hit the back arrow and be right back where you left the search. This same functionality is also available when browsing your friends list.
Thank you to all members that reported this missing feature!
Feed Comments
You now get an email alert when a member comments on your status update. The link takes you to a page where you can see the new comment.
We are still working on the new comment system and will be making some more improvements on how you can quickly browse and read notifications.

I have a complaint!! Since the new BoN, my introduction profile doesn’t show all, only the top part. I want ALL my info to be restored. It’s still there when I go to edit but doesn’t show up when your looking at it, even when you click on more info. PLEASE, FIX THIS FOR ME!!

In future posts, might I suggest a little more usability for those who require it; the picture is not necessarily guiding anyone on how to access those changes & even had me, who is a skilled computer user, a little confused.
For example, it would help to explicitly state: From the Home or Profile page, go the the top of the page and click Account, then click Edit Account & change your privacy settings via the first link selection: Edit Privacy.

Just wanted to comment about the part that says you can view a persons profile,
then click on the back button and it will go right back. That doesn’t seem to be the case.
when I go back it goes to the page but the default goes to both genders with ages 18 -60 without any of the check marks I put. so it makes you believe you are where you came from,
but when you go to the next page you are not going to the next page. you go to you’re new search which has unchecked boxes ages 18 to whatever.’
Just to set the record straight! It’s messed up.
I used to be able to go back but not any more.

This is stupid! Why do I have to check my email to know if someone
has made a comment? Why couldn’t you have just left it alone & have
allowed us to see our comments when we go online?

I still really miss the wall & all the graphics that people shared there! I don’t know where you come off saying that members weren’t using it much. It was used ALOT to share Holiday cheers & just hellos, good night, good morn, etc…Also the top pics! Everyone enjoyed that too! Why can’t you bring back the little things that meant alot to our enjoyment that made BON, BON!?! Unique from all the rest!!!! Afterall IT IS a biker site, not FB!!

sense the new bon, i’ve not been able to view a members profile thats online without having to reload all intel as to whose online after viewing one members profile.
b4 you people started messing around with this program I could simply click the back button,without reloading all intel for who’s online.
also, for nearly a year bon wouldn’t allow my password as mine. finally one day it for unknown reason did? I’ve been a member of bon for several years now. don’t understand what had happened.

james i understand change is good,but these changes are not what or asked for…we cant tell who is real and who is fake…we all enjoyed the site the way it was..ive been a pround member of this site for 4 years and have seen alot of change…some has been good…someof us dont have the time to redo our profile page again..this new format sucks ….i dont know who or what made you pay someone to change it….please fire his/her but …maybe they worked for facebook…in my opinion facebook sucks…..i have 2 facebook accounts and dont like them at all…but in the day and age we all need to connect with other ppl in asimple way….nothing works easy anymore…and the same info is listed on 2 pages….what made bon so special was our profile pages……we all work very hard to get rid of the scammers and report abuse and police the site to make this a great place to be…im loing my faith with this site and its not fun to my any longer….im a simple man who builds bikes and dont know much about htlm code or computer stuff.. if you have to send out instruction to help use this site ..thats should tell you something….. this should be fun and enjoyable for us to use…..my birthday was september 20 th and this was the worst birthday present i have ever got….your loyal fan….jetpilot aka jim

I want the link back for new comments, event invites, etc…. it is a pain to have to go to your feeds and look at them all to see if there is a new comment

There have been times I have erroneously made comments on friends posts and have not been able to delete those comments after I had posted. The option to delete the comment (the X mark) does not show up at all. Please advise asap!

Thanks for the recent changes. They’re like giving a bucket to the people on the Titanic to help them not sink. Site still sucks now. Ugh — whoever said change is good??!!

I would still prefer my profile (or ‘more information’ as its called now), to be the first thing that is displayed when I or others access my page. I also prefered the old format.
Im in 2 minds whether not having a link to send messages when you view people/friends online is a good thing or not.. I personally have not had any spammers messages since the change over, perhaps removing the send messge link on the search facilty/friends lists is the reason, I dont know.

Thank you for the fixes to date, they are helpful.
I am still struggling with sending an email to one of my “friends”. If I go to “compose” in messages, I get all my friends, in no particular order, and no way to search them.
If I go to my friends list (where I can sort and search), the option of sending an email is no longer there, and therefore not an option.
Am I missing an update or area that would ease the sending of emails? P.S. I don’t want to mass mail, I’m only trying to send to one person for example.

everysince the update i have had trouble with the comments. At first, I couldnt see comments posted on my feed. It would take me to that person not to my comment. Since the last update if I try to comment, it says “page not found”, i cant even comment on my own feed. This may be because I use my blackberry, but I never had trouble before. Also, I cant switch pages on my friends list and if I try to decline or delete a person it takes me to that page. I cant see if they are gone because I can only see page 1 on my friends list. I miss the new member feature, I miss my wall, there was some neat stuff on it & some of the people I wrote to didnt get to see what I wrote. I really wish you wouldnt try to be like face book. I dont like facebook & thats why I was on BON & not Facebook, but I heard they went back to the old format, because thats what there population wanted…..hmmm

I can not access the friends folder, when I try I get kicked off. This all started when you made your new and unimproved BON. If I click on someone online to send a message I get kicked off. This new site sucks big……………….

I really want the WALL back!!! I miss my Wall. I miss my Friends Wall!!!! It was my place to post and let my friends know I think about them. First…let me say….that if anyone in that office of IT geniuses…sat and read my profile….they would be overwhelmed with possible ADHD since it is ONE HUGE RUN ON SENTENCE. I have tried to correct it numerous times and yet it is still the same way it has been since you all messed with everything.
Second…>I am still getting email notices to my private email THAT I DON’T WANT. I have a private email submitted only to have to give one up and if I had my way you and no one else would have any of them. I don’t want anyone contacting me unless I contact them and that is to include BoN people and members. My email is my EMAIL….not anyone to use.
Third…how about using a simpler technique of searching things such as interactive mapping…for friends, potential friends and events? All you have to do is the same way Google sets up maps for directions??? How hard is this?
I am sure I could sit here all damn day and rip this thing apart as it seems that although you all think you did us a great service…HARDLY. And this on the heels of me being told too many times by James Plough that I would receive my BoN cards and have yet to see them??? REALLY???? Considering how many friends I have on this site and the people I have talked this site up to….the least I could get is a stack of business cards to continue the quest….or not????

OH yeah…THANKS!!! Thanks so much for deleting all my personal well wishes and cards that I used to receive and I had saved on my wall. Don’t let anyone say that the people….powers that be at BoN are sentimental in any way shape or form since I have birthday cards, Christmas Cards, St. Paddie’s Day cards and general messages from people from all over the world…and in one fell swoop…with the touch of a “delete” button a la BoN….G.O.N.E!!!

When I first saw the changes to BON i thought the same.. the long run on sentence was just too much I was considering deacitvating my account (seeing as deletion is not an option!)
Then by accident I found out how to create the paragraphs again, for the line break to create a paragraph just enter it should work.. not the same as the previous format but I think its been made clear thats not going to be returning….

Well if your listening to your members,EVERYONE wants their profiles restored the way they were!When I click on a persons profile I want to see their profile not feed,I can read that on the home page,if its to make more ad space then simply make THAT PAGE more info and EVERYONE will happy!Profiles are personal,we put alot of time in them and EVERYONE is angry that they are ruined.Photo comments are also very important,after us bon’rs get together&put the time in to post our pics,its CRAZY to have to click on EVERY pic to see the comments!Soo many have left already,listen to your members before they are all on another site,you can have youe ad space you need and still gives us back what we had and why we stayed loyal to bon.

I am unable to change my profile unless i put a relationship status… I dont want to give my relationship status I prefer it to be just blank as I am only on BON to make new friends. This should be optional

This site is total shit. WHY???
Can’t read forums. Can’t read profiles; they don’t make sense. Can’t modify profiles so they make sense. Can’t do people searches; they’re a total pain in the ass now. Can’t look at pictures. Can’t zoom pictures. Can’t post pictures; when you do post a picture it is deleted for no reason. Can’t have the “wall”. Can’t laugh at the nuts on “top pics”. Can’t invite people to events (from what I hear)..
What the hell is the point in coming to this site now???
I honestly just check my email once a day and that’s it… Not getting much email these days because most of my internet friends have left the site already or don’t come on it anymore… So I don’t see any point in staying. Doesn’t seem like they have any intention on fixing what they “fixed”.
Good job at totally destroying this website!

This site is not “mobile device” friendly. The new “Account” button does absolutely nothing when I click on it and several others are dead as well. Before telling us what is “new” or “improved”, perhaps you should take the time to check it out for yourself. Your IT programmer should not be in such a hurry when making programming changes so as to have time to check out the functionality of each and every change for both desktop AND mobile device users. Who is in charge of your “Quality Control” and when did they go on permanent vacation???? I hope it’s not too late to put a stop payment order on the paycheck of whoever is responsible for this big S.N.A.F.U. Did you even bother to check out the references and experience of your obviously “new” IT person? Why would you tell us about features that are “new” or “improved” when they obviously don’t even work as designed? Why would you even allow these changes to appear on BON without checking them out for yourself? Are you relying on someone else to do that for you? If so, you have been lied to and they should be fired immediately!!!! Find somebody with a proven track record to fix this mess or this site is very soon doomed to certain failure. Even before the “fixes”, my older messages have simply disappeared and that was frustrating enough. Now, the new changes have become intolerable. I will be abandoning BON, (jumping ship), very soon if this mess is not fixed very soon. I hope you have read each and every comment of your members thoroughly and not just skimmed through them. Those are the things that matter to us and they need to be fixed. As members of BON, we are your CEO and we demand results AND accountability. Make it happen!!!!

This is more than just a security change and birthday change. My background image is gone and can’t upload a new one. There’s just an empty text box without the browse/select.

Well Im with EVERYONE else,I want my profile back the way I had it!I also have the problem with the background and my info not showing up on my profile page,its their when I edit it but not when you go to my page.More info should be the NEXT page you click AFTER you look at a profile,you click on someones profile to see THEM not the bs feed,thats what the homepage is for,I agree with cat,you need the ad space,were bikers we get that,but you could have that and let us have our profiles back!Also,it is such bs to have to click EACH pic to see the comments!Geeeez,remember who your members are and why they are members,I know I will NO LONGER recommend ANYONE to this site in the format its in,its just flat out embarrassing,when I used to drag EVERYONE here,you KNOW Im only one of MANY who feel the same…

i am wondering why a site that makes you money is one that you allowed to be abused this badly. You have NO moderation or control over what people post in here (and if you think it’s any better in the blogs you are mistaken).
You have had IT professionals tell you (free of charge) the problems that this site is infested with, and you still haven’t really done anything productive in changing it-other than to shut things down. (is that so you can try to figure it all out or just because you don’t know how to and won’t hire peole who do).
Sorry, but when you shut the forums down, I cheered. It was a pit of crap-nothing biker about it.

This is a comment to the admin. Your website is missing out on at least 300 visitors per day. I came to this page via Google but it was hard to find as you were not on the front page of search results. I have found a website which offers to dramatically increase your traffic to your website: http://voxseo.com/traffic/. I managed to get over 10,000 visitors per month using their services, you could also get lot more targeted traffic than you have now. Hope this helps
