On Monday January 23 there will be an upgrade to BikerOrNot.
Some of the improvements include:
1. More privacy settings for Fan Pages
The creators of Fan Pages will now have the ability to ban any member from their page.
Links in Status Updates (both on the Home Page and Fan Pages) will be hyperlinked. You must format the hyperlink as http://www.website.com or www.website.com.
We encourage Fan Page members to attach photos to their comments and to post Youtube videos with the Attach a Link feature.
2. Top Photos
Yes! Top Photos is back. Simply click on Photos and then Top Photos to see the most commented photos on all of BON.
3. Blogs
The Blogs feature on BON is used by less than 2% of all users. Members are now using their Status Update on the Home Page to share content with their friends. So, a decision has been made to phase out the Blogs.
On Monday, January 23 the Blogs will no longer be available. If you have content in the blogs that you would like to save then I encourage you to capture that content before the Monday deadline.
If you would like to comment on any of these changes or report any bugs please visit:

The blogs are the only reason I come to BON….. Guess that makes me a 2% We lose blogs but get top photos back? WTF? This site just officially became worthless.
January 18th, 2012 at 5:40 pm
Make the like button easier to get to I’m on an iPhone 90% of the time and can’t find it put it where it shows on home page so it can be used more
January 18th, 2012 at 5:45 pm
I don’t get it. You say we can leave “status updates”. How funny. Because you can’t post hardly anything on those updates due to the limited amount of characters. This really sucks.
January 18th, 2012 at 6:04 pm
This is a step forward? An “upgrade?” A social network with NO Forum and NO blog. What can you do here now? Post pics and PM people? The site just increased it’s teeny bopper appeal and lost the adults…..
January 18th, 2012 at 6:15 pm
I’ve met some truly awesome folks through the forums (which went away) and then I moved on to the blogs (now they’re going away). I know there’s drama in the blogs, but there’s also some very inspirational blogs. Trying to make everyone my friend before Monday so I can see their status update just seems un-necessary. I really hope you change your mind and keep the blogs, else I’m sure the bloggers will find somewhere else. Peace, Tina
January 18th, 2012 at 6:58 pm
The forums were removed and I understood that. Removing the blogs is a mistake. We will now have no place to express ourselves other than the status update. The blogs were a place that we could write and react with other members, and make more friends. It was a place of joy and laughter and sometimes tears. It is a place of knowledge and information. I do not understand why they can’t remain? It would not cause BON any undo expenses or anything to leave them in place. I know that you are saying on 2% use the blogs, but I can guarantee you that a whole lot more read them! Please reconsider this plan.
January 18th, 2012 at 7:32 pm
I will really miss the blogs. There is some outstanding writing going on there – political, spiritual, and creative! It is one of the first things I check out when I get on my computer every day! Perhaps only 2% of your members are on the blogs since it isn’t highly advertised or promoted – but for those that use it and fully enjoy the much deeper level of communication there, it will be a loss for sure. BON will then just be another Facebook. Got one of those already. Thanks.
January 18th, 2012 at 8:02 pm
Thats ok by me, the advertisers on Chopper Exchange can go advertise in the Magazine I work for since no one will want to come in here any longer. PEACE! SLB
January 18th, 2012 at 8:21 pm
I can save MY blogs but what about my friends’ blogs? Some have passed on, others we’ve watched get married, have kids, lose loved ones, make us laugh…. We can’t save them all. Or can we? Can you back up the whole blog history somewhere? Maybe move it over to biker asylum?
January 18th, 2012 at 8:32 pm
this is a joke right ???
January 18th, 2012 at 8:35 pm
I have to agree with EJ and Nash on the issue of the blogs going away. I’ve met some really great people from your site and quite a few came from the blogs.
I truly wish there was a way to keep the blogs alive… When I log on to BON the first thing I do is go to the blogs and check out what’s been posted. I’m sure going to miss that.
EJ stated something that I am asking myself……taking away the blogs and forums and putting the Top Photos back, who are you catering to?
James, I’ve been with the site almost since inception and I will continue to be here, but I really think that taking the blogs away isn’t a good idea. The forums are gone so why not leave the blogs?
Thanks for allowing me to express how I feel.
Nee

James Plouf you sir, are an anus
January 18th, 2012 at 8:42 pm
a sticky anus at that anus anus bo banus the fe fi fo fanus anuuuuuuuus
January 18th, 2012 at 8:48 pm
this is down right crazy. I know this site is called BIKER OR NOT but with all your doing you may as well chage the name to NOT BIKERS OR POSERS
January 18th, 2012 at 8:50 pm
leave the blogs AND GIVE US MORE ROOM TO TYPE IN OUR STATUS
January 18th, 2012 at 8:57 pm
I agree with every comment here except for Boner’s comment. Status updates do not have the character spacing that the blogs have, and our friends can check them daily or whenever they want to simply by going to a blog. But scrolling through tons of status for say a week if someone was away for a while is a task no one really wants to have to do. I hate the fact that the status has a limited character and I also hate the recapture I think it is an attempt to stop spam. It’s to hard to read and I tried to do the listen feature but it sounded like a traffic jam and still could not do it. Why does it have to be scrambled if we have to type it in?
I pray you reconsider and leave the blogs up!
January 18th, 2012 at 9:21 pm
I am starting a fan page for People against BON shutting down Blogs.
January 18th, 2012 at 9:41 pm
I could not be any happier then I am right now about the BLOCK ability to the FAN PAGES!!!!! Wish they wouldnt take the blogs off but hey.. there has to always be change lol… THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE NEW BLOCK!!!!!!
January 18th, 2012 at 10:19 pm
keep the blogs…some actually pertain to biker issues and most are interesting…perhaps making a block button for the blogs will make it so there is less drama attached to them. top photos are just soft pornography anyway and i didnt miss them… Lots of the fan pages are the same thing… “how do u like ur sex?”…. Its turning into an adult website and no longer the biker site i once loved…. and how about getting rid of the fact that i get a notification when i make a comment on my own status (um yeah… i already know i made a comment and dont need to be notified, thanks) I would like to be notified when someone leaves something on my wall…. months go by and i dont check it… but several people have stopped by and posted on my wall. Also, the rides/events near me…. I should have the ability to delete or “hide” events/rides that I am not interested in.
I have been on this site over 4 years now… looks like i will have to look for another if these “changes” continue to make it less of a biker site and more of an adult porn site. Jussayin
berly
January 18th, 2012 at 10:56 pm
Groups gone, Forum gone, Blogs gone. So what’s left is Fan Pages, where fan boys and fan girls can fan over Sons of Anarchy and sexual positions.
No seriously, I think this is so wrong. Please James Plouf, just reconsider? Please?
January 18th, 2012 at 11:10 pm
Almost 3 years, that’s a decent run on a website, can’t complain. Good luck with your changes, thanks for providing 3 years of somewhere to blog/post. Outta here on the 23rd
January 19th, 2012 at 12:08 am
James,
Never commented to you before…. Please dont remove blogs! Blogs is what has kept many here… You say only 2% use them, but I know for a fact there a many that do not comment or post, but DO read and enjoy them… I have met (in RL) and befriended many people thru my association with blogs… I have friends that are no longer here that have inspirational posts that many go back and read… Thunderunderme is a good example… She passed away in Dec…. After a long health battle MANY people go and read her blogs…. There are numerous examples of this! Again please do not delete the Blogs… There will be many old blogs that BON will not be able to reproduce… Not sure I will stay… Later…Wooly
January 19th, 2012 at 1:31 am
Wooly is right, many people that don’t post in blogs, read them. I’ve received many PMs from people that read a blog and didn’t want to post, but would message a comment.
I’ve met a good deal of the bloggers too, watched them rally around each other in times of need, watched them reach across miles to help folks out. Become friends with and opened my home to some. All of us have had a hand in promoting the site. We have told countless people about the blogs, about the site, and we have seen them join.
There are also memorial blogs, pieces of brothers/sisters that have passed, that are still there. Their words, their comments, their smiles. It’s going to be a shame to see that last vestege of them deleted.
January 19th, 2012 at 2:01 am
I only come here for the blogs also,,,,,,,,no blogs,,,,,no me.
January 19th, 2012 at 2:12 am
please Mr. Plouf, stop being a poopyhead !!!
January 19th, 2012 at 4:02 am
Balls are so tasty. I love the salt. I wish I could save all that ball salt and use it.on steak or manburgers. Balls over the bridge of your nose, resting on your eyes is having way better than cucumber slices. So anyway, Im taking the blogs because I can and am the ruler of this place so you little people just fade away.
January 19th, 2012 at 4:09 am
Give me balls on my nose or give me death! Somebody stop me! Take me out to the balls park take me out to the gameeee buy me some peanuts and balls surprise I don’t care if I never get high as I root root for the ballsack if it doesn’t swing its a shame but its 1 2 3 swings of the old balls gameeeee!
January 19th, 2012 at 3:18 pm
Getting rid of blogs is not the way to upgrade. It’s a downgrade!!!! The number of characters you are able to post on a blog is far more than can be posted on a home page. There’s absolutely no way to “blog” without having a blog forum. By removing blogs you are censoring the things that can be posted and commented on. If that is your desire, then state it, if not then keep the blogs. Just because only “2” percent post, comment and or read them is not a reason to get rid of them. It just means that those 2 percent are the most intelligent 2 percent on your site.
January 19th, 2012 at 10:34 pm
Without the blogs, what’s social about this network?
Fan pages? glorified, LOOK AT ME pages ~what a waste of space.
Event’s? we got to events before this site and will continue to do so.
1st the forums, now the blogs. Not such a Social Network for Bikers now. 2% maybe write on the blogs, but how many viewers? Also your #’s are wrong on that aspect, with so many ALT’s on this site now.
January 20th, 2012 at 2:23 pm
Thoroughly disappointed in the decision to remove the Blogs. I don’t see this as a positive business decision at all. If it’s server space you’re worried about, limit the length of time a blog stays on your server. I came here knowing only one person. I’ll be leaving having met a few and hopefully meeting more soon. The Blogs were the ONLY form of communication with these awesome people. I may still retain my account, but I won’t be active, so your advertisers will not reap the benefits.
This is no longer a social network, but more of a dating site. I’d wish you luck, but I just don’t have it in my heart to do that.
January 20th, 2012 at 2:41 pm
Additionally, posting a “blog” in your status is not realy a blog at all. You’re asking us to “microblog” which very few of these bloggers would utilize. Check this out from Wikipedia. I welcome you to go out and read the entire entry.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Blogs)
A blog (a blend of the term web log)[1] is a personal journal published on the World Wide Web consisting of discrete entries (“posts”) typically displayed in reverse chronological order so the most recent post appears first. Blogs are usually the work of a single individual, occasionally of a small group, and often are themed on a single subject. Blog can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.
The emergence and growth of blogs in the late 1990s coincided with the advent of web publishing tools that facilitated the posting of content by non-technical users. (Previously a knowledge of such technologies as HTML and FTP had been required to publish content on the Web.)
Although not a must, most good quality blogs are interactive, allowing visitors to leave comments and even message each other via GUI widgets on the blogs and it is this interactivity that distinguishes them from other static websites.[2] In that sense, blogging can be seen as a form of social networking. Indeed, bloggers do not only produce content to post on their blogs but also build social relations with their readers and other bloggers.[3]
Many blogs provide commentary on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries; yet still others function more as online brand advertising of a particular individual or company. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability of readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (art blog), photographs (photoblog), videos (video blogging or vlogging), music (MP3 blog), and audio (podcasting). Microblogging is another type of blogging, featuring very short posts.

You guys couldn’t code your way out of a wet paper sack. The fact that you KNOW IT is heartening. You finally are backing off from trying to rise to the level of your incompetence. It’s about fucking time.
Your lack of ability is what hurt you, not what your users did with it.
January 22nd, 2012 at 2:11 am
I will be leaving when there are no blogs! It is the only reason I come here! Its has made a lot of things happen! It has helped a lot of people do things they could’nt have done with out the blogs! So why don’t you take a vote and do what the Biker’s or not want!
January 22nd, 2012 at 2:16 am
Lberi You said it all!
January 22nd, 2012 at 3:15 am
I for one am glad they are going and you FINALLY made a really good decision about removing all the crap from this site.
People in here became pathetically abusive toward others, and it was allowed entirely too long.
Now most that want it to stay with a few exceptions are crying like bitches because mommy took their toy away that they never took care of to begin with.
BIKERS? 95 percent are NOT.
I don’t blame you one bit.
January 22nd, 2012 at 3:19 am
January 22nd, 2012 at 8:04 pm
EL EL….I guess the abuse will go to the top pictures now…like it used to., Ther’e's “abuse” every where … how you deal with it says a lot about an individual.
January 22nd, 2012 at 10:02 pm
Actually, I did such a lousy job of putting this site together that I have actually increased abuse. The only ting I DO NOT like about the results is that there were no small children for me to abuse. I was so hoping that small chldren would get to see all the nude photos and get in touch with me.
It’s a very good thing I am getting rid of blogs and forums because there’s too much temptation to get my pudding and honey together and go door-to-door.
January 23rd, 2012 at 2:30 am
The great part about blogs was that it brought many of us together, we did meets, rides, held hands out to those in need, offered hope, supported each other and made friends. In person, and through years of written words. People shared their lives and experiences.
The sad part about BON is not just within the blogs; it is the infestation of juvenile petty bully’s that have tried to take the site over, because no one was there to spank their naughty tushes now that they are “adults”, I suspect they miss it from their youth. That contingent of toddler trash that invaded here. Petty petulent little kids that never grew up, never learned respect for others, never got past pushing others around as a form of amusement and are gloating now that they caused the havoc because they could.
What is that line “Some men just want to watch the world burn”, it perfectly describes the behavior of some here.
Sorry to see blogs go, for those that used them without malice. For those that offered actual biker content. For those that opened their world and shared it with us. For those that emotionally and mentally made it out of the playpen.
January 23rd, 2012 at 12:38 pm
Thanks for returning the Top Photos back to us!
The blogs were a good way to keep updated especially if you are one with a heavy work schedule or unforseen circumstances and couldnt be here on a daily bases! Not many were aware of some of these updates in order to communicate with one another on the homepage! I just see it as another something gone that was beneficial to the site!
Thanks
January 23rd, 2012 at 7:44 pm
Man, I was SO waiting for the porno to come back to BON. Now I can’t download TONS of stuff to beat off over. AND, if I work up a particularly GOOD fantasy about her (him). I might even go visit.
January 23rd, 2012 at 7:46 pm
When are you releasing the pics of kids????
January 23rd, 2012 at 8:46 pm
ok when you go to leave a comment after this newest update, you type it out then it disappears before you can comment, thats one thing for now
January 24th, 2012 at 4:08 am
The blogs were the heart and soul of bon. Its what kept us all connected, across the country, and the world. Now the bon heart has quit beating, and with the final thud, comes silence. The mass migration is taking place, where we can have a voice, can be connected. It isn’t happening here. And with that, there is no one to buy the merchandise. A very poor decision.
January 24th, 2012 at 7:12 am
Why do you still have a blog space but the rest of the members that want it don”t?
January 24th, 2012 at 8:45 am
CONGRATULATIONS….BIKER OR NOT HAS BEEN OFFICIALLY DESTROYED..AND TAKEN OVER BY WORTHLESS DATING ADS ETC. INSTEAD OF REMOVING THE BLOGS..YOU SHOULD HAVE REMOVED THE SHIT STARTERS AND TROUBLEMAKERS. THIS WEBSITE IS NOW RUINED….I HAVE ALREADY STARTED DELETING MY PROFILE PICTURES ETC.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:55 am
Well took a look at the Top Photos and they have not been replace with all of the Top Photos even when clicked on the Past Year! What a fuckin joke!
January 24th, 2012 at 10:00 am
And Top Photos are not most commented of all time they are your fuckin pickins!
January 24th, 2012 at 10:43 am
How many” good mornings” and” good nights” can one stomach on the status reports? Yes many of us read to the blogs and didn’t always comment. How about asking for volunteer monitors for the blogs? I think you have really made a big mistake by deleting them. I sincerely hope that you reconsider and bring them back.
January 24th, 2012 at 12:26 pm
Cannot post a profile photo sence you made the change yesterday.Whats up with that?
Have never had a prob.before.Now I have a blank space where a photo should be posted.
Sure hope you get this site fixed soon.
January 24th, 2012 at 3:09 pm
It seems there are alot of people very unhappy with the changes here. I am not one for changeing things for the worse myself but to each there own I guess,, what i want to know is what is going on with the chat feature here?? Is this sight doing away with cam chatting? If so I think it’s a very thoughtless move. People make friends and develop relationships trough webchat and I think it’s wrong for a sight be it free or not to offer something and when the people who come to your sight and come to depend on seeing there friends there and rely on being able to see them on cam and have a place to chat with them. Its wrong to take that away from people along with all the other shit people are pist about,, if you wanna change your sight and make it better you should try asking people what they would like to have. and it shouldnt matter what the % is,, are you goin by a percentage of the total number of users here??? cause if you are then you should know that more then half of yoru total users are fake profiles and spammers, you should worry about and focus on the people who are real and actually come here daily to chat in the blogs or in the chatrooms on cam.
January 24th, 2012 at 3:28 pm
ok,, wlel i guess chat is gonna be around still,, but there are and have been rumors it is going to be removed,, i think this would be very bad choice,, lots of people really like webchat and alot have come to depend on it too see and chat with there friends,, so i hope chat is here to stay,, if you could though,, plz try to do something about the cam quality,, it is very very bad. ty.
January 24th, 2012 at 7:55 pm
Our freedom to express ourselves via formats such as the forums and blogs are removed because we don’t matter. The ads that sponsors put on BON are what matter. Think about that before you buy. If we can’t have something that brings us joy then why should we even look at any of the ads or visit their sites to buy anything. When the forums were removed… I understood having to remove them. The blogs being removed is another loss of freedom of speech. Thanks BON! You Rock… NOT!
January 25th, 2012 at 5:10 am
I was pointed to the biker asylum, and its a blast! It has blogs and forums and the people on the site are fucking hilarious! It is set up like a mental facility, and it has been a lot of fun. You should check it out, you wont be disappointed! Its everything this place used to be and better. The owner and his team are on a lot and answer questions and take suggestions. bikerasylum.com
January 26th, 2012 at 2:25 am
Your website is ridiculous!!! your moderators keep deactivating my profile when CLEARLY there are women on your “top photo’s” that show way more than my pics do!! So either there is a moderator who is pissed that I wont’ give him my phone # after all tons of men ask for it and never get it or some jealous female moderator keeps deactivating me… You guys are so becoming like eHarmony!!! that is what the majority on BON say. If you’re gonna deactivate my profile, then go through the ENTIRE website and deactivate ALL the women who are pretty!!!
January 26th, 2012 at 2:26 am
BikersCredo.com now that is a REAL BIKER website! perhaps you all don’t have actual Bikers running yours!!
January 28th, 2012 at 8:28 pm
A regressive business model based on close emulation that ignores the baseline principles is a perfect recipe for failure. A social network design based on content will always fail and always has. A design must have connectivity and this place has been absolutely strip mined of connectivity and barely has any content left to speak of. You are in fact the architect of multiple websites being created to fill the void and they all thank you. The biggest “OR NOT” is the site itself now…
February 6th, 2012 at 4:24 pm
since the Jan.23 update of BON, I have been having trouble viewing the website. If I click on anything from the home page it shuts me down. what is going on?
February 13th, 2012 at 7:56 pm
WOW….. No Blog’s on BON! WTF? Just when you thought things couldn’t SUCK more than “Hoover”! BTW…. Less than 2%…. BS, I don’t by that!….
March 12th, 2012 at 8:27 pm
James and BoN,
Thank you for adding the option of widow / widower status. There are many of us that have been asking for this for several years. This is a biker site, bikers die on bikes, often as a result of inattentive cage drivers, and many other reasons. I appreciate the option to add the w/w status as it first shows that many of us are not single by choice buy by fate, and secondly, riding a bike is a serious decision that requires care and attention. And unfortunately accidents happen, people die or are injured for life. It helps to serve as a reminder of the commitment many of us have to riding. And finally, the pain of loss is unimaginable and unless you have been through it you will never understand. Making a connection to others that do understand is helpful and very much appreciated.
March 15th, 2012 at 10:24 pm
so glad u up dated now cant get on and it freezes up thanks so much
March 16th, 2012 at 12:20 am
Still not use to the new format. With time i guess I will figure it out. One thing I would like to see if possible is a section were people can post rides (turn by turn) they think are great to take. This would not be an event just a go out and have fun experiencing roads that may be new to you. I have one in the El Dorado County area in California that I think is nice, but no where to put it.
March 16th, 2012 at 1:29 am

March 5th, 2013 at 9:15 pm
BON should reconcider its decision. The Blog open up doors to new friends even though it was not widly used by the members. If we wanted to be limited to only the friends we have we wouldnt have joined BON. If we wanted a FACEBOOK look a like we would have just created a BIKER page in FACEBOOK.
I truely hope that you see the significance of the BLOG and add it back and bring back this site to its previous glory. This limited only see the people you chose as friends updates is bull!
To limited and restrained for a BIKER we like choices and some conflit stuff we had with BLOGS!!!
March 11th, 2013 at 3:46 am
B.O.N. used to be a great site to network about motorcycles, riding and events. Since the fan pages hit B.O.N. it has become more like Facebook, which I hate. There is a reason we do not use FB and we do not want B.O.N. to be similar. I am sick of seeing all the crap that pops up on the wall. Is there some way B.O.N. can get a grip on the ridiculous fan page subjects that have nothing to do with bikes, riding, or events? Or just cut them out all together! They do not promote the reasons most of us got on the site, they are taking up way too much space, and many are beginning to look for other bike sites that stay true to purpose.
April 28th, 2013 at 4:54 pm
Hey there! This is kind of off topic but I neeԁ some advice from аn
еstablіѕhed blog. Is it hard to set up уour own blog?
I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast. I’m thinking
about creating my own but I’m not sure where to start. Do you have any tips or suggestions? With thanks
