Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band – “Roll Me Away”
“Roll Me Away” (1982) was written by American rock artist Bob Seger, for the album ‘The Distance’ by Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band. The song peaked at #27 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It is featured on the ‘Armageddon’ movie soundtrack, and in addition, the song is played in its entirety in the final scene and closing credits of the 1985 film, ‘Mask’, starring Cher and Eric Stoltz. It was also the closing song from the 1984 film ‘Reckless’, as Aidan Quinn & Daryl Hannah drove off on Aidan’s motorcycle. It was also used as Bob Seger’s opening song on his ‘Face The Promise Tour’ in 2006-2007, which was his first tour in a decade.
Back during the Christmas season, we introduced you to the amazing acapella band, Home Free. And we are so glad we did, because fast forward a few months, and they’re covering Keith Urban’s new song “Blue Ain’t Your Color“, and you have to hear it. We love Keith Urban, right? We’re going to develop some real love for Home Free today too! The boys of Home Free added a sweet Motown twist to the song, which rose to popularity rapidly when it was released by country hottie, Keith Urban.

This is not your average song/lyrics share. Today’s motorcycle music is played on a vintage Glaser Steers (Speedminder) turntable, Heathkit / Daystrom branded; a 1955 RCA 20-6260 at 78 rpm. This is not something you get to witness every day. Enjoy, BON Family!

50 years ago today, on March 1, 1967, it was a historical day for the late English Rock Band, The Beatles. It was the day they began recording the insanely popular song ‘Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds‘, which was written by Beatles’ singer and co-founder John Lennon, though it was always credited to him and bandmate Paul McCartney.
The younger generation of today remembers “Simple Man‘ as a mainstream rock song performed by the popular modern rock band Shinedown. And while Shinedown did amazing things with their cover of the song, it originally was released in 1973 and quickly rose to fame as one of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s most popular songs. Lynyrd Skynyrd founding member and frontman Ronald Wayne “Ronnie” Van Zant (January 15, 1948 – October 20, 1977), co-wrote the infamous tune, and at one point performed it in all of its raw and beautiful glory as a vocals-only track. Today we have that performance right here at BON, and it will give you goosebumps.

American rock band Linkin Park hasn’t released any new music in 3 years – 2014 was the last year we heard anything from the band, when they released their very last album “The Hunting Party“. That has now changed – this week, they released a new single, called ‘Heavy’ (ft. Kiiara), and ya’ll are a lucky group of people, because you get to listen to the exclusive single, right here on BON.

Sailcat performs their hit song Motorcycle Mama, from the album of the same name, August 1972, in their first national television appearance.
As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis was jailed back in 2014 for plotting his wife Meggan’s murder, after allegedly attempting to pay an undercover police officer $1000 to kill her. The murder-for-hire plan originally sentenced him for six years in prison, but sources have announced that he was freed on December 17, 2016 – a fact that has been confirmed now by California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He served less than half of the sentence he was given back in 2014.
Do you remember the music from the 1990’s, BON family? Music is such a huge part of our life as motorcyclists, and it has seen us through many roads, twists, and turns for all the decades we’ve been travelling on two wheels. Today, we have a video that’s bound to made us feel a tad old – it’s a compilation of 38 individual songs that turn 20 years old this year. Listening to it, you’ll feel like the 1990’s were just here yesterday – and you may even still remember the lyrics to many of them we’re about to see today. Catch the list of all 38 songs, and view the incredible video below.
Up and coming country singer Andrew James recently covered Elvis Presley’s “I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You”, and it’s one of the most deep and beautiful versions of the song we’ve ever heard! It features guest singer Chandler Gallagher on duet vocals, and has rolled out just in time for all of us to enjoy it for Valentine’s Day. Seriously, why isn’t this guy famous yet? His vocals will melt you. His tone is perfect, and his bass pitch is second to none.
Some call “Devil’s Lullaby” by Boogaboo the best biker anthem ever written!
On January 26, 2017, legendary rock artist Alice Cooper joined Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale and and Beasto Blanco at The Basement East in Nashville, TN for what was a historical rendition of Cooper’s famous song, “School’s Out For Summer”. Beasto Blanco is an American rock band, which features both Cooper’s daughter Calico and his bassist Chuck Garric. The live performance of the rebel anthem was caught on video, and we’re psyched to share the incredible moment here at BON with you today!
We’ve posted more than our fair share of really cool little kids here at BON, and the kid in today’s video definitely deserves the recognition for being one of the coolest kids on the internet today. You’ll be impressed by his taste in music, for sure, but you’ll be even more impressed with how he expresses his refined music tastes. He’s sitting in the car, enjoying the sunny day…lip syncing and headbanging to nothing other than heavy metal, and we are so, so proud.
Yesterday, the world learned about the passing of Allman Brothers Band drummer, Butch Trucks. The 69 year old musician was a founding member and the drummer for the Allman Brothers for 48 years – having joined brothers Duane and Greg Allman, and bassist Barry Oakley in 1969 to form the classic American rock band. Initially, news reports of Butch’s passing contained very little information, but new details have emerged today about the cause of his death, and nothing will prepare you for how tragic this is.
This week, the internet introduced us to Dave Crosby and his super cute 4 year old daughter, Claire. When the 29 year old dad sat on his couch with his totally adorable daughter to sing the classic tune “You’ve Got A Friend In Me”, what he never expected was how the internet would respond to it. The tune, which was featured way back in 1995 in the highly popular Toy Story movie collection, was originally performed by singer/songwriter Randy Newman.
Guys, Spring is coming! I know, I know, not soon enough. But seriously, it’ll be here before we know it, so why not spend the time now – while we’re not getting out to ride the bike daily – to get ready for when we can finally de-garage the bike and get to riding! There’s really only 6 or 7 weekends left until Spring, so I thought today, we’d get our plans for the road going, with 5 songs to jam out to while cruising on the bike. Check the list out below.
The Motorcycle Song (1968)
By Arlo Guthrie
We’re not exaggerating when we refer to Joanna Connor as the guitar shredding goddess. Seriously, this exceptionally talented woman is exactly the reason why one should never, ever judge a book by its cover. Joanna’s average style is comparable to that of a laid-back hippie mom – which is why it is so unexpected when she takes the stage to slay the audience. When you think of shred guitarists, you generally envision a middle aged man, with the signature 80’s rock band hairstyle, wearing a band tee and old jeans. Are we wrong?
If you’re an east coaster, this is a bit of news that may interest you in particular! The American Rock Band Tool is schedule to perform in New York City, NY for the first time in over a decade – 11 years to be precise – they last performed in the Big Apple in May 2006, when they played two shows at New York City Center. They will headline the Governor’s Ball three day musical festival in the city this coming June. The festival runs at New York’s Randall Island from Friday June 2, 2017 through Sunday June 4, 2017.
For decades now, Metallica has been the road music for us bikers. Some of us cruised on our very first motorcycles to Metallica in the 1980’s, back when the heavy metal band was fresh on the music scene. Fast forward several years later, and the band’s lead guitarist Kirk Hammett is now selling his gorgeous oceanside San Francisco, CA home. A life-long rock music career can afford you what this breath-taking home boasts, and Kirk is banking on what this home will profit him when it sells.
Syd Barrett, the front man and founding member of the English rock band Pink Floyd release his debut solo album, The Madcap Laughs, 47 years ago today, on January 3, 1970. Syd, who was the primary guitarist and vocalist for Pink Floyd, passed away nearly 11 years ago, back in 2006. The band was active betwen the years of 1965 and 1995, and returned briefly from 2012 to 2014 – which means this band shaped the the world of music for many of us in the BON Family.
Five Finger Death Punch Guitarist Zoltan Bathory totally understands the biker code – you never leave your brothers and sisters stranded on the side of the road. He was travelling on a Las Vegas, NV highway on Christmas Eve when he spotted a cop on the side of the road trying to change out a tire for an elderly lady who was stranded, and decided to stop and offer a hand. He stayed with the officer and the woman until the job was done.
As bikers, we know that music is a humongous part of our community. Many of us bikers are also musicians, and are always experimenting with new sounds and new genres. So, have you ever been curious as to what it would sound like if bluegrass was mixed with thrash metal? The band The Native Howl actually did it, with their original song “Thunderhead” and the sound is incredible! It’s totally not like what we’d expect it to be!

A Headbanging New Year! – 2008
Since the staff here at BON took an extended weekend for the Christmas holiday, we are a couple of days late in reporting the tragic news that iconic singer George Michael has passed away. He was 53 years old, and the cause of death was confirmed as apparent heart failure. Having passed away on Christmas Day, George is the third celebrity in less than 2 weeks to succumb to cardiac related illness, following the tragic heart-related deaths of actor Alan Thicke and Fashionista Zsa Zsa Gabor.

Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer
Last week, we shared the heavy metal version of the Christmas classic “Carol Of The Bells” (see RELATED ARTICLE link below), which was arranged and performed by the up and coming metal band Orion’s Reign. After that share, we were compelled to give ourselves a proper introduction to the band, and we are so glad we did. We found out that not only did they perform the badass version of “Carol Of The Bells” that they did, but they also recorded an entire heavy metal Christmas album. We’ve listened to it, more than once, and we just have to share it all with you.
Heavy Metal Band Orion’s Reign has performed and recorded their very own heavy metal cover of the Christmas classic tune “Carol Of The Bells”, and it’s just so extraordinary that we couldn’t help but share it with you today. We’re drawing closer and closer to Christmas, and covers like these make the season that much more badass! Formed in 2001, the heavy metal band from Athens, Greece has toyed with lyrical fantasy sounds, and is labeled by Ice Warrior Records. Check out their version of “Carol Of The Bells”, plus lyrics to the original song below!
BON Family! We’re getting so close to Christmas! Less than 3 weeks now! That’s why today, we have to share this incredible video with you. A dude somewhere in this great nation of ours, or maybe even outside of it (we’re not sure, to be honest) really wanted to make a statement with his Christmas lights and decorations this year. So what did he do? Well, he rigged his lights to play along with Metallica’s “One”, from their 1988 Album, And Justice For All. Shared by 96.9 Rock FM, out of Athens, Greece, this video proves that nothing says Christmas quite like Metallica.
