We all remember him best for his role as Willy Wonka in the 1971 Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. Gene Wilder was an actor who shaped much of our movie and television history – with roles in Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Something Wilder, and Will & Grace – he was a household staple and comedy icon. News has broken that he has passed away at the age of 83. He will be sorely missed.

Wilder’s nephew has confirmed that his death is contributed to complications from Alzheimer’s disease, though more details are at this point, very scarce.
