Led Zeppelin band mates Robert Plant and Jimmy Page are being taken to court for a copyright infringement lawsuit against the hit Led Zeppelin song “Stairway to Heaven”. The band Spirit is claiming that Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven”, released in 1971, is too similar to their track titled “Taurus” which was released in 1966.
Musical experts around the globe are currently analyzing the two songs and according to several reports, they are saying that both “Stairway to Heaven” and “Taurus” “use notes that have been used in music for centuries”. The trial of Led Zeppelin Vs. Spirit trail is to take place on May 10th in Los Angeles.
If you listen to both songs, you’ll hear that they do have similar chord progressions, but we’re still not convinced that Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” is a complete rip-off of Spirit’s instrumental song “Taurus”.
