The first teaser for the highly anticipated Sons of Anarchy spinoff series, Mayans MC, is finally here.
The trailer, titled ‘Rosas’, released on May 8th, gives us a glimpse into what lies ahead as the Mayans Motorcycle Club rolls into town. The first scene shows a close up of a highway lined with red prayer candles surrounded by a field of red roses.
A Spanish version of the Rolling Stone’s iconic tune ‘Paint It Black’ sets the tone as a pack of rumbling motorcycles tear down the road, turning the entire field of roses black. In the last shot, we see the back of one of the biker’s vests that reads “Mayans M.C., Southern Cali.” and the camera zooms out to a full shot of the shriveled black rose field. The teaser confirms the series is set to premiere on FX this fall.
The first season of Mayans MC is the following chapter in Kurt Sutter’s Sons of Anarchy series. The show will be set in present day on the California/Mexico border four years after Jax Teller’s death. The series will focus on a new lead character Ezekiel ‘EZ’ Reyes, played by JD Pardo, a Mayan MC prospect. FX released an official synopsis which gave us some insight on EZ: “EZ is the gifted son of a proud Latino family, whose American dream was snuffed out by cartel violence. Now, his need for vengeance drives him toward a life he never intended and can never escape.”
Mayans MC will feature a cast of Edward James Olmos, JD Pardo, Sarah Bolger, Clayton Cardenas, Richard Cabral, Michael Irby, Raoul Trujillo, Antonio Jaramillo and Carla Baratta.
