The Binghamton Harley Owners Group (or HOGS) is a motorcycle group based in Central NY, and they’re a group of people who love both motorcycles and helping their community. Annually, since 1989, the HOGS have held a special event for Christmas, raising as much money as they can through the year, so they can go to the local toy store and get kids in need toys for putting under the tree. Since January of this year, they’ve raised $10,000 and took to their local Toys ‘R Us this week to make the very special purchases.
Since the event began, the Binghamton HOGS has raised over $130,000 and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. The group says they love to do this every year, and that it’s a great activity to take part in when its just too cold to go out on their bikes.
It gives us something to do after our bikes are put away and it also allows us to help the community, help the kids in our community, so it’s a win-win for everyone.
Says Don Rauschmire, the Director of the Binghamton HOGS.
Check out more of that Don said about the festive event below, and tell us in the comments if you have a group or club in your own community that holds special events for Christmas just like this one. The toys purchased by the Binghamton HOGS were brought to the ‘Toys for Tots’ sorting location in nearby Vestal, NY and will be distributed to families in need as Christmas draws closer.
