The excitement is in the air today, as the 76th Annual Daytona Beach Bike Week kicks off! Today is the day, BON family! Bike week attendees have been trickling into Daytona throughout this past week, getting ready for the biggest motorcycle party of the year. Today, thousands more will head into Daytona as Bike Week officially gets underway. Daytona city officials expect 500,000 bikers to cruise down Main Street for the 10-day festival, which will run now through March 19th.
WFTV 9 News, based out of Orlando, FL got the chance to interview Daytona local Ashley Gilbert, who owns Bikers Pride, and told them that she fears the crowds will be sparser this year because it isn’t a milestone year, like last year, which saw a huge party for the 75TH anniversary. She said,
“A lot of people save their money to go to anniversary shows. The year after always slows down.”
Adding that she hopes for the best, saying that she feels that perhaps the economy has gotten better, and that hopefully people are more comfortable with spending some money for a monumental event like Daytona Bike Week.
Check out WFTV’s official story on Daytona Bike Week 2017’s opening day and tell us in the comments if you’ll be one of thousands rolling into Daytona Beach on this beautiful Friday! Do you agree or disagree with Ashley Gilbert? Do you think this year will see less attendees than last year?
