If you’re an east coaster, this is a bit of news that may interest you in particular! The American Rock Band Tool is schedule to perform in New York City, NY for the first time in over a decade – 11 years to be precise – they last performed in the Big Apple in May 2006, when they played two shows at New York City Center. They will headline the Governor’s Ball three day musical festival in the city this coming June. The festival runs at New York’s Randall Island from Friday June 2, 2017 through Sunday June 4, 2017.
The band, which formed in 1990 in Los Angeles, CA has been working 3 days a week to procure new music ahead of the festival, despite the fact that singer Maynard James Keenan has not joined them during those sessions. In his defense, Keenan has been touring with his other act, Puscifer, as well as touring out on his book tour to promote the release of his new memoir, “A Perfect Union Of Contrary Things“.
Coincidentally, the last time Tool release an album was also in 2006 – so maybe now that they’re returning to the Big Apple, they’ll start to release some new music too! Anything is possible. Tickets for the Governor’s Ball Musical Festival can be purchased at The Governor’s Ball Festival website. Tool joins other bands and artists at the festival, including Chance The Rapper, Childish Gambino, The Wu-Tang Clan, The Strumbellas, and more. Tell us in the comments if you’ll be attending the 1027 Governor’s Ball Music Festival in June!
