Not all of us have the luxury of walking into a dream Harley-Davidson shop and selecting a shiny, brand new motorcycle model off of the gleaming sales floor. And that’s perfectly ok. Many of us have new-to-us, already loved by someone else, used motorcycles. Some of us even purposely buy older, used bikes. But in this day and age, not every seller out there can be trusted, so what can you do to protect yourself when buying a motorcycle from a private seller?
We want to make sure we get those most of our money when it comes to purchasing a bike, new or used. Many risks comes with buying a second-hand bike – did the previous owner properly maintain it? Has it been in any accidents? Does it need any immediate repairs? These are all valid questions – and questions you should be asking when you look into buying a bike that doesn’t come brand new off the showroom floor.
