The bike in today’s video is truly one of a kind. It’s not just a motorcycle, it’s a beautiful piece of artwork. The Harley-Davidson Shovelhead Gooseneck is a beauty all of its own, and this one in particular will have you melting into a puddle. The sound of this beast is music to the ears, not to mention the clean and perfectly maintained body of this amazing creature. The owner of this bike must be one proud papa, because this one is an extra special piece for the Harley-Davidson lover.
The Harley-Davidson Shovelhead engine was manufactured from 1966 to 1985 by Harley-Davidson, and is an air-cooled, 45 degree, V-twin motorcycle engine. The “shovel” cylinder head represented an offshoot of the previous Harley-Davidson Knucklehead engine, though it featured a slightly different look to it. The name of this particular engine was derived from the appearance of the rocker box covers – because these covers bring to mind the head of coal shovels when inverted. The Shovelhead engines powered Harley-Davidson motorcycles until the Evolution engine was introduced in 1984, and took over in 1985.
