A Fed-Ex box is no way for a Marine’s remains to go home to his family. Thankfully the Patriot Guard Riders – an Honor Guard motorcycle organization based in the United States – saw to it that that a certain Marine, Staff Sergeant Jonathan Turner, didn’t have to return home that way. They stepped up to the plate to give him a proper journey home, and the story will absolutely warm your heart.

Staff Sgt. Jonathan Turner of California had perished while serving in the line of duty, and the Military was going to send his cremated ashes to his mother in the mail. When she realized she was unable to make the trip to claim his’s remains, that’s when the Patriot Guard Riders stepped in. The distinguished group of riders carried Turner’s ashes across their respective states; at each state border they handed off the ashes to the next group of riders. After seven transfers across seven different states, Tuner’s ashes finally arrived back home to his mom.
